My Tribute: Our son died 7 years ago of an overdose. He was a joy, but must have been in pain. His death broke our hearts, but Bryan Stevenson said “we are so much more than the worse thing we have ever done”. I wish all of you peace.

My Tribute: My beautiful daughter, and only child April died on March 3, 2021 of an accidental overdose of fentanyl. I found her that morning on the floor of her bedroom and I tried my hardest to save her, and I called 911. 911 sent the Fire Department paramedics who worked on saving her for 45 minutes, but in the end she was dead. My whole world crumbled and my heart shattered. I have been working on my grief by joining GRASP, and now co-facilitating my local meeting once a month. I miss and talk April every day because I kept her ashes in an urn. I’m trying to rebuild my life into what it is now without her. It was shaky in the beginning, but I’m feeling a little stronger now. I can get out of bed, get dressed and get on with my day, whereas for a long time, I could not. I’m so grateful for the 27 years I had her, and I know we will meet again when it’s my time. I love you, April.
